How much does your pony/horse eat?

2 large nets of horsehage - one am one pm
1 small scoop happy hoof am and pm
1 handfull high fibre cubes am and pm
half large scoop bran am and pm
plus limestone flour and garlic
a few carrots am and pm

kg? - no idea!!!!

Per day:

1kg Hi Fi
1.5kg nuts - 50% Hi Fibre Cubes, 50% Working Horse & Pony Cubes
7-8 kg haylage overnight (he's given ad-lib but this is about the amount he actually eats)
12 hours grazing during the day

If anyones interested an average big round scoop of nuts weighs 1.75kg and the same scoop of chaff around 300g

Molly is out for up to 12 hrs but muzzled (still too much good grass) so no idea what she can consume like that in kg.

She has a haynet overnight weighing approx 7-8kg but usually has 1-2kg left in the morning.

She has 1 large round scoop Hi-Fi Lite (approx 300g?) and a measure of her balancer which is 450g I think.

I would guess with her hay and dinner she is eating 7kg plus whatever grass she stuffs through her muzzle. She is a 14.2hh Welsh D x, very good doer. I've not weight taped her for a while but would say she is around the 450kg mark and in lightish work.

14.2 conn mare 8yo in rest coming on to light work
in at night grass by day (roughly 12 hours each way) -
4 k hay at night, and thats' about right atm - there are a few wisps left.

If she needs to come in by day then it's 4 kilos again in a small-holed net; I'll increase the volume if the weathers' cold/she drops off/is hungry.

Feed-wise she's on a forage based diet and just has chaff to encorporate her supplements, no hard feed/beet

I am looking for an average figure that will obviously vary according to other factors, like size, good/poor doer, work loads etc. All of your answers have provided pretty much confirmed what I already thought. Seems to be between 7.5 - 15kg per day.

Great, thank you all for your input.

2% of body weight per 24hrs in the form of grass, hay and dengie. Topspec Antilam 2 teacups per day. 1 spoon garlic in winter.

5kgs when there is no grass, or 2/3/4 when there is still grass on the ground before it turns to mud.

He gets the most at night when stabled to keep him busy.

out all day in field- not too much grass, its quite muddy atm

tea- big handful of grass
- lots of carrots
- scoop of garlic (little scoop obs)
- small handful of pony nuts
huge haynet night
breakfast net
breakfast- small handful of grass
- scoop of garlic
- tiny handful of pony nuts
- carrots again

then she'll just get treats through out the day, coming in, being turned out, when finished riding ect:)

1 large net soaked hay at night - approx 8kg dry weight
2 small nets soaked hay during day - total approx 7kg dry weight
Handful each of chop, high fibre cubes, competition mix, carrots.
pink powder in each feed.

before big competitions the competition mix is increased but only to a small scoop in each feed.

(We have no grazing in the winter)
