I have an 11 month old fjord gelding and have put him in the summer grazing field with two others, field is about 2 acres and is never furtilized (is that spelt right?) It was rested over this winter, they are out 24/7
He comes in about three times per week for a small amount of chaff and high fibre cubes. My question really is how much should I worry about good grass for him? is laminitis an issue with babies? With my exmoor who I owned since 6 months I started from day one watching what grazing she was on but she had a feed with vits and hay, but I dont know if that was the best thing for her, she was always fine and never had any lami or fattness issues.

My thoughts are that whilst he is growing, building muscle, bone etc, being on good grass is ok and that as soon as he matures and is growing less I should start to limit access to this sort of grazing.
