sorry, me again  (thinking of renaming myself 'little miss paranoid'!)

just rang vet to see if pony would be ok going out overnight this week. he said she should be fine, as long as there was 'very little grass' in the field!

im confused now as to what constitutes 'very little grass'!!

field is maybe an acre, two horses on it. it looks nothing like any of our other fields, has lots of docks and thistles and fairly short grass with bare patches in it. the most laminitic horse on the yard has been living on the 2 acre version (before we fenced half off!) since end of april with no ill effects.

hm ... what to do?

i would fence a small area off - using electric tape - and let your hors egraze it right down, then move it a few metres every few days or so.
works best for me and is highly recommended.
:)

the whole thing is pretty grazed down already as horses were on it all winter and angels laminitic colleauge has been on it since the end of april. we already fenced off half the field (an acre or just under an acre, not sure) for them and can move the fence once all that is gone. ie it's not a rich, 'new' field as such.
