This is a real long shot, I have a hunch his owner sent him to an auction where he was most likely bought by a slaughter buyer. 
I absolutely fell in love with this horse. I got to shareboard him for a month, and I spent about 8 months riding him in lessons and grooming him on weekends.
He was sold off in late 2005 from Illinois. I am not on good terms with his old owner even if I was still in contact with her. I overheard her say something like "Let's just say I have a friend in Wisconsin because I do and I'm not good at lieing." Also, the other girl who loved and shareboarded him told me his owner told her she sold him to Iowa.
