Anyone got any tips to get over it? I've done a fair bit of long haul travel and I don't think I have ever suffered this much :(
I got home Sunday afternoon, pushed through the day and went to bed by 8pm, slept 10 hours in the next 12 (amazing for me on a good day) but since then I have only managed an hour here or there, last night I didn't get to sleep until gone 4am and my alarm goes off at 5am, I feel like I could fall asleep standing up just now.

Oh happy memories (not). I got jet lagged terribly in Vegas and then again on the way home. It's the strangest of feelings at times isn't it? I suffered mildly after a Canadian trip too, though not quite as bad and sleeping in the back garden more or less cured it and helped me back to normal.
It's a strange one - I think my only suggestion would be to try and go to bed at your normal time, despite being jiggered and wanting sleep standing up. This (allegedly) helps your bodyclock readjust to what it's used to, ie, routine.
I remember playing in a casino in Vegas one morning at 6.30am - just bonkers really - only been there one day and I was just wide awake and raring to go. Trouble is later that night I was dead by eight and just wanted to sleep......................zzzzzz
Sorry not much help! Sending normal sleep pattern vibes over.

I am hopeless myself, but a friend of mine who did loads of long haul travel recommended a long, long, shower and absolutely no giving in to napping. Shower, melatonin tablet, and back to desired clock and no prisoners!

The trip went well, thoroughly enjoyed spending time with my friends in California :) Malibu was a let down (we only drove through) but there were some really amazing places up in the mountains, we saw 1 stunning horse property for sale, it was in a beautiful valley which was lush and green surrounded by stunning mountains and it was only $20 million!!!!! Will post pics of the trip when I download them. Vegas was meh, it's never been a favorite place of mine other than the weather there, but we did take an amazing helicopter ride out towards Mt Charleston, over red rock canyon and we paid a little extra for them to leave the doors off :D it was incredible and the highlight of the Vegas bit of the trip :)

I've been back at work since Tuesday, so no napping and it doesn't seem to be improving quickly. I often go to bed early because of my early starts so that isn't unusual, but running on less that 4 hours sleep kills me. Both Monday and Tuesday night I went to bed about 9/9.30 and woke again around 11/11.30 and couldn't sleep until 4am, so last night I gave in and went to bed at 5.30, woke by 11 as predicted and couldn't sleep again until 4am, but at least I feel more human today having had a bit more sleep.

Sending normal sleep vibes - hopefully you'll be back to normal again soon. Shame work couldn't have given you a couple of days off to recover (seeing as it was a work trip).

I had Monday off, thought I took leave for that, but TBH I don't think it helps to have lazy days, at least being at work forces you to keep busy and push through the tiredness

Absolutely, better to make yourself work as normal and get as much daylight as possible The nasty grey weather we've had won't have helped - get out and feel the sun on your face in the morning :)

I hadn't even thought about the sun, it was around 40c, low humidity and wall to wall sunshine in Vegas, and since I have been back it has been around 20c, high humidity and either over cast or piddling down and sun very definitely effects my energy levels.

I think the sunshine helped, I nipped out of work yesterday afternoon for a sit in the sun (my office doesn't have any windows) and then it was sunny while doing the horses yesterday evening, I went to bed about 8.30 but read for a couple of hours and then slept through the night :D finally feeling human again :D
