Last effort.....can it be done?

Of course it can! Well done you, if this is also part of your 'mid-life crisis' then is a fabulous one to have.

Has the hair colour settled in??

My cousin has type 2 diabetes, I have managed without being on any kind of medication this long and I decided It's the way forwards, My other cousin is a diabetic specialist nurse. She said the biggest predisposing factor to diabetes is genetics. If a first degree reli has it then you will likely get it, in spite of life style. Neither my parents had it, so I am not going to let my lifestyle lead me into insulin resistant diabetes. And to be quite honest, my knees don;t hurt any more, my hip does not hurt any more and the other day I chased a lamb who was on the wrong side of the fence, caught him and put him back without being out of breath. Kayaking begins tonight so a few miles of aerobic paddling ought to help shift a few more KGs
........whispers****** I can get on my horse too without having my stirrup held or needing a box to stand on *****

Impressive!
I bought a book for my Mum called Reverse your diabetes (or something similar to that) which basically suggested all the lifestyle changes youlist. You sound as though you have excellent motivation too, so I'm betting you can do it.

I always feel I need to keep up with you Wally -ever since you outdid me on the 5:2 diet.
I put that weight on again and am struggling now tho I need to lose pounds rather than stones. I am calory counting and pretending to be a horse for four weeks, Maisie, as she was kept on very low rations for her own good.
OH points out that eating like a horse has the opposite meaning.
How did you do it this time?

PS I dont compete horses, but Wally did inspire me to lose weight after my op. And so I am not competing against her - just feeling that if she does it then I can too.

This is not to find fault with Wally who unlike me lives in a remote rural area with bad weather in winter. But I think we (and dieticians) might take notice of the ways in which our bodies react to various diets.
After loosing weight on the 2:5 diet, I regained most of that weight faster than I put the weight back on after going on previous diets.
It could be my age (late 70s).
But what do other people think?

Blimey well done you! I'd be very motivated to lose the rest. I ought to lose 1.5 stone but I don't seem to be able to get started.

It's simply by shoving less down me clack! I have a smaller plate for all my meals. and now summer is coming Kayaking has begun and we are getting out for longer and longer rides

You have done so well - Like Jane I dont have the will power. But in our defence, we are both great cooks. I mean maybe you are too Wally but apart from horses, I think a lot about food. AQnd if one cooks up big batches, one tends to eat more and have second helpings.
