How much would you say a 7yr old 16.2 TB mare could carry? I know this is the 'adults who ride ponies' board but its kinda appropriate!

My friend has a 17hh very fine TB who carries her 17st boyfriend ok. His saddle fits perfectly and he doesn't ride for long and the horse copes, although is quite laid back (which he's not with a light rider).
I wouldn't recommend putting that kind of weight on something that build for any length of time though
I would say a fine 16.2 TB would carry 12 or 13st easily - and easily is the improtant part. She's would probably manage fine with a 15-16stst rider but she would find it hard work I think.
