So we have had Mister patch a little over three months. Still early days, but our patience is wearing thin.
He is a lovely natured guy, very people orientated and picking up on training at home very fast. He loves to play, is great with kids and my frail grandma. He doesn't beg for food or dig the garden up or chew furniture.
Vet thinks he is about eighteen months and he was a stray. We are fairly sure he has been beaten and has subsequent issues from that.
However the big problem is seperation anxiety. He initially wouldn't leave our sides, he ruined the utility door do we crate trained him. He goes in and out of the crate happily whilst we are there and sleeps alone in it during the night. However when we leave him he gets really distressed. We have a problem that oh works shifts so he is only left for more than three hours about four days at a time, every six weeks.
He has ripped bars off the crate, got the door stick inside and today started on the carpet trying to get out. If he gets out he takes all duvets off bed and empties washing out etc and we have an alarm.
He has valerian tincture, a kong and chews, wears a thundershirt and is happy in there if we are home. Radio makes him worse.
We have had a behaviourist out, an he is going to training every week (and improving at that finally!)
