Hi im starting horseback riding lessons im new at horseback riding i have only been on a horse once i am going to western riding lessons and i just wanted to now what they do there do I learn how to canter????????and if you have any horseback riding tips for me that wloud be nice

Hi!

I don't ride Western, but I am sure all riding lessons would start off in similar ways.

I'd say that your first few lessons would be getting you used to the correct position in the saddle, basic leg, hand and voice aids and learning to walk and trot (possibly, depending on how you progress)

Most important is to wear comfortable safe clothes for your first few lessons.

Cantering will probably come a little bit further down the line!!

I'm sure others will be able to give you a better idea.

I think Piaffe summed up pretty well what to expect in the first few lessons.

As for advice, just try to relax and have fun. Also, be prepared to use patience and a good sense of a humor.
