Very confused here - thinking of putting JJ in a bitless to help with brakes and leaning on the bit - basically dont think he likes bits and, frankly, neither do I:rolleyes:

But - tried googling to buy a bitless to try him in - some look VERY expensive - and what is the difference between side pull, cross over etc.?

Many thanks from an old timer who knows nowt about these gadgets:eek:

I use simple short shanked english hackamores on several RS cobs as they are easy to alter the effect by changing the tension of the rear strap so that novices ride in what is to all intents a headcollar while better riders get a similar feel akin to a hanging cheek snaffle

I just use a riding halter as it doesn't tighten and i can't pull my turns as the reins are underneath the chin.

I may look into a bosal that can be put onto my exciting bridle, it would then be a bitless bridle.

Be aware you will not be allowed to compete bitless in dressage and some riding clubs don't want you at lessons/shows/events either.
