POOR Dora's legs! Mallenders/greasy heel!

Kis Vihar

Nutty Saddlers !
This is what was under Dora's feather! She has REALLY chunky hairy legs, nothing was visible until I started prodding around during a lameness examination - this is what I found. Poor girl! :(

I clipped down to the 'scab' and have ordered some Pig Oil and Sulphur. :)

Meanwhile, lots of Savlon / Sudocreme and Betadine is being applied. She is VERY sore. I think we have discovered the reason for her lameness.

This is behind her KNEE, so when she moves around, it splits and weeps. Never had this before, no idea why she has it now. :(

Poor girl, that looks VERY similar to how my clydie mare was when she came to me,hers was greasy heel that hadn't been dealt with by previous owner.

After I started the pig oil and sulphur treatment,it never got that bad again, still had the grease (or 'crud' as I usually refer to it!!),but not the scabs.Hope it works out as well for you and your girl:)

My old stallion was very sensetive in the skin department with damp and mud, and he had no feathers.

he could be rendered hopping lame with a surprisingly small sore bit.
