I was helped to learn to ride by BHS AI s on this forum.
All of them have now left NR.
Just wondered if any the people now giving advice here are qualified like that?

No I don't think there are any teachers still on here. I remember you lamenting their loss a few years ago. You'll just have to put up with us NR's (insert tongue in cheek here :p ). Eml who moderated was one but I don't see here here much. I don't give advice. Wouldn't dream of it, not on actual riding. I have lots to say on horse keeping though - but I don't tend to share that these days either.

I was thinking of EML only the other day, as I remembered her saying once about children riding and how under 8 was never really good for them given their hips don't finish growing in some say until just after. It was because of that I never had mine riding that often, a sit on a horse occasionally is of course absolutely fine but for long periods not ideal.

Am I right in thinking her daughter competed competitively too?

Yes she did on ex racer horses if I remember correct and to a very good level.

I started training for the BHS PTT exam some years ago, but could never have qualified due to my lack of jumping experience. Then life moved on in a different direction.

I don't have the faith in the BHSAI qualification that I used to, I've seen a few too many poor instructors with the qualification. I'm not saying there aren't some very good ones too, but the qualification alone isn't enough to convince me. If I was looking to specialise or compete in a particular discipline I'd probably look for an accredited trainer in that field.
