Gateshead!
I left my clipped horse out rugless last night. It was way too hot. (Only clipped for showing plus hes a hairy beast who sweats and gets tired when working BECAUSE of hair. lol)
He gets rainscald- and bad.
But it rained from 4am'ish according tomy dad.:(
Im going to get him in and lef him dry before rugging him and putting him back out.
Do you think this once will give him rain scald?

Last time it was when i just got him and didnt know he got it, it was a few days of rain which gave him the scabs, but they were really bad.

I though my girl had just got bitten, but it turns out that is rainscald. It did rain at about 4 am (heavily for about 30 seconds!)

Hopefully your boy wont get rain scald, but we will both find out later!

Rain scald is more likely to be cause by rugging up - the horse gets a bit damp and sweaty under the rug and the rain scald bacteria go 'yippee'.

If he's a 100% dry you can put the rug back on but to be honest right now he's more likely to get it from being rugged since it's so hot and he'll be sweating.
