raised trotting poles

How high can use you raise the pole before it becomes too big? Sorry if that is a thick question.

I lunged her over four raised poles rested at an angle on a tyre before the wind blew them off!These were my short 6ft poles and its the equivalent of three pole pods I think.

We used to do raised trotting poles on a milk crate. Left side up, then next pole, right side up.

Not sure how high that is, but I would think equivalent to a tyre - but maybe more stable!!

I was looking up how to build cavalettes the other day and they recommend 6-8" for the lowest, 12-16" for mid height and 20" for the top

So far we have raised onto half a tyre, then all the tyre. So that would be about 8" to perhaps 10" She only has short legs.

I'm currently using PoundLand potties at the moment - he tends to get over excited by anything bigger! He loves jumping & is quite exuberant when he thinks anything off of the floor can be jumped I'm hoping we can increase the height, as he gets more used to the idea of raised pole work ... X

I used to use garden flower pots.

depends on your horse i guess. mine has stumpy legs so 1ft3 is plenty to be trotting over sans jumping!
