Random fleece rug question

If using a fleece rug as a cooler on a sweaty horse. The sweat wicks through and beads on the outside. If you were to add another fleece on top (in a colder weather reason) would this stop the wicking properties of either rug?

The reason I ask is that Robin will be sedated on Friday. He sweats with sedation. I am concerned he will then get cold with just 1 fleece on quite quickly when sedation wears off.

I don't know is the answer.

Presumably someone will be with him until the sedation wears off, so can't his rug just be changed for something warmer then?

Yes I will he with him at all times. It is the musings on an anxious brain making up non needed worries!

I would only put a sheet on as I would feel the evaporation could continue. I think the point of the fleece is to let the sweat evaporate and keep the horse warm underneath. But I am no rug expert!

2 fleeces should still let the sweat evaporate, but it might slow it down.
