Recommend me some half chaps for chunky legs

Any recomendations please?

My aged half chaps are on their last legs and I am struggling to find any new ones to fit. Very unhelpfully my old ones don't have a manufacturers label inside so I have no idea where I got them or what they are.

I have really wide calfs, not very long legs, and Mountain horse short boots which are quite chunky round the ankle. Plus I want suede ones not synthetic. It's proving to be a tricky combination!

I got some gorgeous Ariat ones which are fine round my leg but too snug round my ankle and I really can't justify buying new boots to go with them! (so the chaps are now in the for sale section!)

Synthetic but I like them and sounds like I have same boots as you, and chunky calves...Tuffa half chaps in large. I have them in dark brown, very flattering. They have a zip and velcro.

Go on to either plus rider or tackanory they both stock the fuller fillies range. They do half chaps in very wide sizes with a short leg. Their leather ones are really good & come in lengths 14 to 15 inch or 16 to 17 inch width fittings 15 to 17 1/2 inch or 17 to 20 1/2 inch.I have these in a short but wide fitting the 15 to 17 inch & they are so very soft & comfy.

I have These, they wash well when covered in all sorts of gunk and always come up like new, you have to wash them on their own though as the colour will run on the first one. They're the cheapest of that range but really good quality I found :)

I have short fat legs (probably hairy too :yellowcarded:) and if you are looking for smart half chaps, I have the Tuffa Trakhener Gaiter in size medium (medium!) short and they fit like a glove and make my cheap jodh boots look really smart.

We both have Tuffa - not expensive and not very close fitting. I guess they have stretched. But very comfy.
Edited because OH points out that he has graduated to some beautiful Ariat half chaps which match his boots so he is smart like Jane.

I hav both of these both suede and leather and can reccomend them :)

My chunky legs were very comfy in shires leather gaiters and Regent G2 half chaps but sadly both pairs now slide down my leg as I ride.

I have heard great things about the Fuller Fillies gaiters and chaps. I tried the former at the equine event when they first started out as a company. Sadly the sizing was wrong so never got them though they were good quality.

I have the shires leather ones in wide/large and find them very comfy on my rather thick calves!

I've got pair of stretchy neoprene ones... very forgiving around thighs, and cost me about £20.. they're at the yard, so i'll have a look at their make tomo, can't remember right now..
You can see them here, a fetching bright purple pair

I used to have the suede amara ones from Shires, they were always a good generous fit. I wear long boots now. I think they're a good price too.
