Riders weight for pony ???

I know theres a way to calculate how much weight a can pony can comfortable carry but i can't remember how to do it? Can someone help?
I weight-taped my pony last night to worm him and he is 345kg

It depends on the ponys build,fitness,whether the saddle is a good fit and the riders capabilities.

I would give all the above things careful consideration,much more so than a general textbook formula.

yours is 345 kilos so would carry 69 kilos roughly as it is 20% of their weight 69 kilos is about 10 and a half stone/11 stone so a fair weight

Thanks guys i thought it would be about that. My pony is quite chunky/cobby and has good soild chunky monkey legs Now that i've moved yard im gonna get him fit, my friend wants to start doing trec!
