Hiya,
I am new to the boards and I guess this thread should maybe be in the training section but after having returned to riding after 15 years I felt more comfy being here!!!!
I have bought two mares (only intended to buy one!) and the mare that I am using for myself is a gorgeous 16.2hh Hanoverian mare 13 years old who has been turned out with her previous owners for the majority of the last two years. She has been excellent out on the road up until two months ago when she freaked at a flourescent tracta unit coming through the village and projected me into a parked car.
Neither of us were injured thankfully but it has knocked both her and my confidence. We have been back out on the road since but she is very flighty, fine one minute and then jumping all overthe shop the next with no apparent reason(no traffic, bright colours etc). She also was happy to hack out alone but now if I try to take her out alone she whinnies and is constantly turning about to head back to the field. In company she will go so far but no further. Can anyone give any suggestions as to what to do about this.
My grazing is road locked and therefore I have to hack a mile or so to get t any decnt riding and I don't want this to spoil the good time we were having.
