Soothing pyoderma (itchy spots) on young dog

Poor Corky has picked up a staph infection on his little belly where it is always scratched from charging through the undergrowth. The vet says they are very common in spaniels because of their way of going, i.e., like a loon!

He has antibiotics to clear it (a 2 week course!) but the little pustules are sore and itchy. Can anyone recommend something that will soothe them while we wait for the antibiotic to take effect?

Aloe Vera's good. And cold tea. Calamine lotion. All three helped my kids through chicken pox.

is it wet/damp? Aloe is great but Ive found over the years treating many similar things that for the kind of wet, oozy, hotspot type things dogs get then adding more moisture is no use, an antiseptic wound powder, gold bond medicated baby powder or if it’s fungal/yeasty then athletes foot powder will dry it up and soothe overnight.
