I had been battling with poor Kev and his aversion to his stable for the last couple of weeks. I have been trying to leave him in the stable for an hour a night, feeding him in it, making it nice for him with lots of goodies, but he would still box walk, weave, stress poo, kick the door and generally lose all manners and be a total stress head (trashing his box in the mean time...I would be taking out the same amount of bedding as those who had their horses in overnight!).
So, I ordered a stable mirror, put it up last night and the difference is unbelievable! Although he wasn't too keen to go in at first, as soon as he did he checked out his new mate, did a (solid!) poo, then discovered his lickit and that was that really! Didn't even stick his head over the door! Would occassionally look up and check his friend was still there then get back to his lickit.
So far I can't recommend it enough for an anxious or stressy horse!
Long may it last....he is lame, so the vet is coming up in an hour and I suspect boxrest and bute will likely be the answer!
