I guess what grass there is at the moment is probably very rich, maybe they're trying to balance that. I wish we could get decent feed straw round here.
That's odd because yesterday Storm attacked me when I went in with a slice of clean straw! She's never eaten her bed (no need to as if anything I give her a bit too much hay). She started pulling it out and nibbling it.

My goats used to eat straw. They went mad for barley straw. We used to put a small bale in the hay racks at night on top of there hay.
My sheep havent had any salt licks for a while. I stupidly forgot to order some last week when i ordered the food from the feed merchant. I have one left from last year so ive got it in a bucket and keep moving it around the lambing pens. They are going mad for it just now.
Animals will tell you when they are deficient.
Mine are on their dirt track but are finding enough new shoots to keep them occupied for hours with their heads down, they're just eating it as quickly as it grows.
