This snowy weather has been good for one thing..

That's what my farrier's apprentice said when they dropped by just before xmas.
He said the horses' feet were very clean, probably the snow.
I did add that it was a combination of snow and hoof pick though ! :D

Yeap chunkys feet are really clean. Didnt have to wash his legs for the farrier today. Put some pig oil and sulphur on midweek to stop the snow sticking. So combination of snow and PO & S have made his legs really white. Farrier also said his feet hadn't grown much probably because it had been cold. We had to cancel last week as there was too much snow for the farrier to get up the yard. So he's gone an extra week, but his hooves were still quite short.

Yeh my 3 looked really clean while the snow was here, but now its gone, its all mud again.

One good thing the snow and cold weather makes the field firm enough for turnout, but now its all slippery mud again

Ok scrap all of what I said.

The mud from the melt has meant I can't even tell my mare has white socks now let alone nicely exfolliated soles
