towing vehicle under £5000? any ideas

basically i need something able to tow an ifor williams with one horse for under £5000.

can you suggest anything that would be reliable and not cost the earth to run?

if you have got the money get an isuzu trooper but if you cant afford that then go for a vauxhall frontera at least 2.3 must be long wheel base. i thought they were crap until we bought one a "K" reg for £500 and its been brilliant, i know they have a bad rep but we have had landrovers and they are worse.

what about a pajero/shogun? i they're pretty good tow cars and you could get an older one for that sort of money.

A pajero. Brilliant car. Solid. Insurance and parts are a bit expensive though because of the fact its an import. Weve got one, feels very solid and secure.

I have a 7 seater LDV van, 2.5 litre turbo diesel.

Does the job a treat with no bother. pulls a darn sight more than 1 pony, 5 in some cases.

I've got a Shogun (same as Pajero just UK model) Don't use it as a tow vehicle any more because I sold my trailer & bought a lorry, couldn't part with the Shogun though, I love it. Most reliable car I've ever had!


Mine's a J reg & although we've had to replace some parts because they were old, we really haven't had to spend that much on it.
