VOSA are looking for information from anyone who has had a trailer ramp come down whilst the vehicle is moving.

A horse was killed recently when the trailer came open. She literally fell onto the road and was hit by a lorry. The story is here http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/news/397/272504.html

All the VOSA contact details etc are there. Theres no mention of what make, but the H&H forum has a thread about it here

Just thought I'd post to get this a wider audience. If there is anything that we can do to make transport safer and prevent such a terrible thing happening again then, obviously, we should!

It's always been one of my fears for that to happen with a trailer that has luce type locks. With mine I always have a small (but breakable in an emergency) padlock through one of the bolts to stop it from rising too high and opening accidentally.

Must have been an horriffic accident, poor thing :(

Make of trailer?

Hi
Do we yet know what make/model of trailer this accident occured with? I read the article which was printed in horse and hound this week, but again no mention of the trailer details, which would be most helpful.
Many thanks,

Our ramp stays firmly up, the springs hold it there until we give it a heave to get it to come down.
