Tripped over this

Not seem these before but it looks to me an improvement on the issues i have with the thorn. They get used with normal pads and don't have any built in spine clearance which to me goes against all manner of treeless saddle designs. My baretek pad isn't much different in design of the base but it's a bareback pad without stirrups.

@Jessey they are used quite alot in native show classes by adults but also as everyday saddles.

Is this not like a pony showing pad rather than an adult saddle?
Originally I think that might have been what they were designed for, with hard to fit types.
I have seen adults using in the showing classes.

@mystiquemalaika so your stirrups could create pressure with everyday use? Are these aimed more for just the ring and the rider is long and reading the foot?

I have spotted a few designs out there now. Treeless were/ are frowned upon showing if too bulky but the idea appears to be getting accepted with these others.
RI was impressed with the solution we had though, cob 'yuk'.

To me they are no more structurley designed than a bareback pad except for a flap to hide the girth straps and we both are aware of problems arising from stirrups and bareback pads. A good chunk of people use them in the show rings but do school and hack in them as well and I have seen people jumping in them. I've seen one in the flesh and wasn't impressed with the overall design been marketed as more of a riding saddle pad than a bareback pad. Just my opinion obviously but there are many treeless designs out there that would imo work better for the job. The ansur/solution designs without panels for example used with a correct pad are just as minimal in design for the wide to roly poly types the thorn are aimed at with to me more of a traditional look to these anyway.

I had a baretek and found jumping in it awkward. Though I probably would buy the western version if I fell over it.

I think there is a Baretek version under the Edix logo. But I won't be spending that to play with a pad.
( though I dribble over some pads, she hasn't asked for one for her birthday.)
I currently have two, but one to sell.:p

Yes I looked at the Freestyle and Energist around the same time as the Sensation. Sensation popped up and I hit the buy now. Three years on very pleased with it.

I wonder if it comes down to how you ride? Heavy in the stirrups or more centrally spread. I think if I tried jumping in a Thorn I would simply hit the deck if anything went a little off.
I would probably put those who show in these as balanced riders the majority of the time/ riding schooled working correctly mounts?
I can just see me being flung and not necessary because she did the flinging. :D
She spun the other week and I'm just thinking even with the Sensation soft structure it didn't let me down.

What I don't understand is how does it work that you can just put one of these pads on and ride away, yet my Solution (also treeless with panels) needs precise adjusting and fine tuning with adjustable pads by a specialist fitter in order to keep it stable and stop it moving and rubbing Raf's back?
