Have been looking on Horsemart tonight and have come across a couple of Blagdon Cobs.

Although I can see they are Stunners, What are they?

A Breed? a Colouring? know nothing about them:)

Ooh I saw one on Dragon Driving, it was lovely....was wondering myself!

ETA: Well :o I think so. Is this one?

Well thank you for making this thread fairlady. I did wonder when I saw the one I posted above but assumed it was a foreign breed and made a mental note to ask Kis Vihar :o

The welshie I ride is meant to be a blagdon (according to my instructor) and she's strawberry roan with a white belly, which has a blob of chestnutty/roan colour on, and very long stockings. Quite similar to clydesdale markings.

No idea what the different between blagdon and rabicano is, though

centaur

not absolutely sure but my understanding is that a blagdon has a broken coloured coat i.e a black/white blagdon will have mottled areas giving the impression that it is grey in these places.

Blagdon is another way [an old fashioned way] of describing Sabino markings. SB1 allele is actually absent in the breeds you'd think carry it - like Shires & Clydes

White leg markings above the knees and hocks with jagged margins, wide blazes, and belly spots or roaning.

Gonna put this out there - I like equine colour genetics :)

Rabicano is limited roaning of the coat [also called ticking]
It's different to true roan, as only affects the tail head, flank and in extreme cases, over the belly.
True Roan affects the whole body evenily except for the horse's points

It's not to be confused with Sabino - Sabinos lack the white hairs at the base of the tail, which is where Rabicano will first present itself
