Hey,
My horses are rugged all year round and i am tempted - often - to go to that next step and put paddock boots on.
I currently only use boots for floating/work (different boots obviously) and wonder whether there's a strong enough justification to put paddock boots on too.

Does anyone out there know the point of paddock boots?

Paddock boots are used to protect the horse from paddock injury. If you compete your horse, particularly in the Hacking Ring, and you want the horse to have clean legs then paddock boots are used. My friend has a chestnut with socks and she uses them to protect him from scratches particularly in the white area but also on the other legs. I have a dapple grey and am seriously considering pb, he has clean legs and it would be nice to keep them so.

I am also considering getting Frits a set of fly boots, the poor baby gets harrassed by those pesky aussie critters - must be his sweet european blood:D

I have the equi chaps which are Padock Boots. To stop his mud fever. :) Also sometimes in summer when he thunders round playing on the hard ground!!
