Yet another flower id thread

Mallows have 5 petals, this looks as if it has 6. I would say a hibiscus but I can't believe one in Orkney!

Hibiscus is from the mallow family too. And yes I would be surprised to see one on Orkney but you never know I guess.

Well it is back out again this morning, with two hover flies! So it didn't take exception to being tied to a garden cane.
