After a very long wait Ben has arrived.

I let him stand in the stable and chill for a while after his 4 hour journey. He soon tucked into his haylage and drank lots (I had to go and buy another water bucket in case he ran out overnight). He's had very limited turn out so I am being careful. He went out for 90 minutes yesterday - today he's had 2 1/2 hours this morning and I'll give him another 90 minutes tonight.

I'm on a huge learning curve and feeling a bit overwhelmed really, but its all working well so far and I have good support. I just need to get my routines going

I'm planning to lunge and the ride him at the weekend if he's settled enough (which I'm pretty sure he will be) - can't wait!

Congratulations! You sound like a typical new owner.... thrilled but a little overwhelmed by the responsibility - don't worry, this will pass. He's gorgeous - I hope you have many years of fun together :)

Gosh he is beautiful. Do you mean he has not been used to going out at all? Poor chap. I am sure he will be very happy having time in the field with his new friends.

As for feeling overwhelmed - it passes after a few years! ;)

Stunning boy! Once you're in a routine you'll be fine, it's normal to feel a bit overwhelmed.

Oh what a handsome chap! He looks a lovely boy, yes as others have said feeling overwhelmed is totally normal, you'll soon find once you settle into a routine that it feels like you've owned him for years. Look forward to reading all about your adventures together. Thank you for sharing.

He's had very limited turnout for the last couple of months (but has been out working), and then none since Friday. He had 2 hours the first day, 4 hours in 2 lots yesterday and I'll have him out all day by the weekend (well that's the plan!)

Is he licking your coat in the first picture? Haha

He looks lovely!
Yes - I had horse treats in my pocket :)
