If you are the Mottram/hyde side there is a very good book 'from Saddleworth to Longdandale' which gives all the local routes (bridleways, byeways and short cuts up lanes) running from denton in Manchester to Uppermill in Saddleworth.
Try also the pennine bridle way and cheshire riders websites. Get an o/s map as well and reckie routes by map reading and car driving the road bits.
