I know their is a post somewhere ,I think @newforest started it but I couldn't find it  I think Marley was at 478kg?? he is now down to 445kg Yeay..I would like him to lose a bit more before the spring grass is here. Here is a pic of him today after he was ridden...I think he is looking well but then I am biased :p :)

Well just hecause the A&P rep condition scored Gracie as a 3.5, doesn't mean I've ditched her calorie controlling. Spring grass is just around the corner. Funnily enough I washed her muzzle and theirfly masks today!

I've been on Slim Fast for 9 days and 4lbs are off so far.

Well done both you and Gracie :D

@Ale I would rather mine was a bit too slim going into spring than an ideal weight cause I know he will also soon pile it on once the grass comes in. I don't know how I am going to manage mine on a track this spring as I will have lambs and until the lambs are up a bit I will have to keep them and their mommas separate from Marley and Rummy. I will have to figure something out:)

I weight taped Jess a while back at 518kgs so down from her 532kgs 2 years ago and her 546kgs (which was actually 602kgs on the weighbridge) 4 years ago, and she's dropped more since then, I realized at the weekend I have let her drop too much, I can just see ribs, her tail head is sticking out a bit and her muscle is disappearing  so I upped her linseed from 30g to 50g and she's been on the better hay since her hunger strike a couple of weeks ago. I am not going to rush to put it back on, I'd rather still to be able to see ribs by April so she's got room for the spring gain which will no doubt happen when the grass comes in.

I have just booked A&P to bring their weighbridge out on April 8th (the soonest they could come), I think she looks her best at about 530 on the tape, so probably 570 on the weighbridge is what I'd like to see. Its hard to tell with her, being QH they carry more muscle than most, which is heavier than fat, so even when she's very slim she can weigh a lot more than vets etc. estimate her at, as the stand in vet learnt when sedating her to do teeth last year :p.

Ale used to be obese going into spring as they had ad-lib hay in the field at his old yard and he would just stuff himself. He never goes hungry here but has to work harder for his food, be that nibbling grass stems, chasing his haynet across the field as it rolls away from him or walking between small piles I leave out all over the place. He's so much better I'll try and find a before pic

Whoever is whispering Ale is too slim needs to look again. I think he looks great, much more where I would like Belle to be right now, she's only dropped 20kg so far this winter and I could do with getting at least another 10 off before spring.

In between then she has had periods of much increased fitness, the last 2 are from June/July 2014 when she was extremely fit for our Big Ride to the coast that year.28168737_10156090299927246_4635179882777110267_n.jpg

Exercise really is the key to her waist line, I wish the winter darkness wouldn't put us back each year.

I need to weigh tape Pete at the weekend, but he could so with loosing a bit before Spring.

Like Jessey, exercise really helps Pete!

Mind you, I tried on a pair of breeches that fit me last year & could only just do them up. So I'm back on the 5:2 diet today ...!
