I am convinced my headcollars and leadropes are breeding :p I'm not sure how I ended up with so many  but I am starting to think about giving some away!

Headcollars:
Red nylon- A tenth birthday present from my mum :D It got used on my favourite RS pony, then the ponies I had on trial when I was twelve, my loan horse and now finally belongs to Salsa.
Havana Leather - bought when I was buying things in preparation for Salsa's arrival. It's his "every day" headcollar, is soft as butter and is still as lovely as the day I brought it home.
Green nylon with Aztec-style embroidery - his "green theme" headcollar to go with his green travel gear.
Maroon nylon - left by Salsa's previous owner when she delivered him. Apparently it was "included in his price", so I didn't have the heart to tell her she could take it away!
Red & Blue nylon - huge extra-full size (Salsa wears cob). I think it was inherited from my friend when she sold her horse, but I can't imagine it ever fitted him, either
Purple nylon - no idea where it came from  It's possibly one that I bought for Jacob and hardly ever used after he got a leather headcollar.
Black nylon - I think it came with Jacob, although it's such a state I think the best place for it is the bin! No idea why I have it though - I gave my parents all Jacob's gear when they bought me out.

Leadropes:
Plain green - Green theme ;)
Blue & grey - Came with Jacob?
Brown - Came with Salsa
Red & blue - Turned up in my car one day and no one claimed it
Black & purple - I think my ex bought it for me. It's now being used as an owl toy!
Red - goes with my red headcollar

Now, I know it's always useful to have a spare. I have been the victim of broken ropes and damaged headcollars before, so having a spare on hand is necessary. But I think I've got more than one person needs for a single horse :o
I think seeing that I'm not the only one with an overkill of gear will make it easier to justify to my boyfriend why I have so many. Since I know some of you lot are shop-a-holics when it comes to your neddies, how many headcollars and leadropes do all of you have?

I have a few!

Each horse has at least one headcollar each, I think Shay has about 3:o
I have webbing headcollars, rope halters, leather headcollars, biothane headcollar, fancy head collars, not to mention the show slips.

Oddly, I only seem to have about 4 leadropes though:confused:

I've had sooo many headcollars over the years, but I seem to lose them as quickly as I collect them!

I now make sure I have one leather heacollar w/ brass name plate per horse. That's all!

Mine behave oddly, they all vanish at once. I then go out and replace them, they then reappear and then more turn up that I had forgotten about! So rather alot - yes!!

Headcollars do a magical vanishing act on our yard - there should be at least 1 per horse (40+) but invariably someone's run off with yours when you go for it!! We have our show headcollars (nice leather ones) hidden away with our travel kit & then have whatever we can find on a day to day basis! Best one so far is a multicoloured one - easy to spot if someones run off with it :)

i have a bit of a headcollar problem too.....although some will shortly be finding there way onto ebay i think;)

leather headcollar - just purchased, love it as lacey's everyday headcollar now. beautiful.

pink nylon - Laceys old everyday headcollar don't want to chuck it out as its still useable just looks beaten up now (have washed it but still looks the same)

light blue nylon - a bit big on lacey, not sure why i have it:confused: pony size

purple and silver - picked up at tack shop for bargain price of £3 although holes for buckles arn't eyeleted. too big for lacey, doesn't fit anyone:o

leather filly show slip with clenchers - too small for any of mine, bought in case it fitted Piccolo but it doesn't.

baby pink and blue shetland headcollar - for piccolo to grow into:rolleyes:

mint green new shires foal slip - too big for piccolo who it was bought for. doesn't fit any of mine.

red nylon very battered headcollar - came with lacey

dk blue foal slip very battered nylon - came with Freddie, haven't got round to binning it.

green foal slip very battered nylon - piccolo's everyday headcollar until she grows into her other one.

lead ropes

1 pink leadrope to go with pink headcollar
1 baby blue to go with blue headcollar
1 green to go with green headcollars.

so thats 10 headcollars and 3 lead ropes for 2 ponies

Funny.. was having headcollar count last week! They do breed!

Black padded Leather with nameplate & green leadrope - Georgie's :)

Navy Padded + Navy leadrope - G's

Navy Nylon + Navy Leadrope - Stan's

Another ..Navy Nylon + navy l/rope - G's firstest head collar :)

Brown Nylon with plaited nylon -western looking head collar + brown l/rope

HiViz Yellow + luminous yellow l/rope - is great in winter

Black Nylon + black l/rope

Black Nylon (with a Fly-free bit) + black l/rope

Monty's leather headcollar with his name on + black leadrope

Mint green & purple headcollar with stars on + matching l/rope :o - Triggers

1 x bubblegum pink leadrope (to go with a pink rug :o)

2 x black leadropes

1 x lead with chain end.

Too many!!

I think we have about 10 sets of headcollars and leadropes for four horses- the excuse is that we may lose/break one so always best to keep a spare (or three :p)

To be honest I'm more embarrassed about the amount of rugs we have- we could rug up every horse at our yard and still have some spare :o

Its odd but I don't have that many head collars or lead ropes!!!! I have had in the past but they always seemed to "walk" when on a yard!!! Now I have them at home, you'd think I'd indulge in many - but I only really have one spare each for Joe and Storm. Joe has a lovely posh leather one - but I always forget to use it!! To be honest, I struggled to find a nice one for either of them- a lot that I've seen have a rubbish clip - and I need a good one, as they can be quite full of themselves in a morning when I turn them out - so I need to make good my escape!! (no good if headcollar needs unbuckling not clipping)

Now stable rugs - thats a different matter - I seem to have acquired 4 for Joe and 5 for Storm - thing is, neither of them can ever wear them as the rain drives in (we only have field shelters at the moment but I don't think even the new stables will be any good in that respect). I mean its no good having a stable rug on if it gets soaked is it? They tend to sleep in their heavy turnouts in the thick of winter. I should really have a stable rug sale - they're all in excellent condition!!!

why do you need so many? :p

I have 2 headcollars and 2 leadropes... 1 set for each horsey!!

I will admit that when i was competing Charlie had a gorgeous leather headcollar with his name engraved on it! But unless i was taking them out somewhere and wanted them to look smart one each will do...

I do tend to have a clear out of my tack room every 6 months or so, and everything i dont use goes :D

I have errr.....one. :o

ETA - Oh no, wait, make that 3! The 2 others were bought by Denbenj! But I bought and use 1 ;)

Geez I checked the other day,
5 cob size ones - all Cheyenne's and don't fit my boys!
Ace has 3 inc a leather one and Quitus has 3 inc a leather one!

Leadropes? Oh millions!

<says in a small voice> Um...I don't know..... :o

Too many is probably the correct answer.:o

i have a purple and white amigo one with matching lead rope
a purple soft limp one with matching lead rope
a pink one :o with horses on and a matching lead rope
and a brown lead rope appeared in my tack shed one day
