New Year - Start as you mean to go on......

Had lovely time with the boys on new years eve, not sat on Odin in a good while with him being on loan and his injury. We been doing some inhand work past few weeks and really warming too him. Knew he was a good lad but never really built a relationship with him till now.
Last night went in the school for a sit on him - damn school lights need changing and only the one working. With vol would probably not risk it but knowing odins inflappable nature went ahead. We had a bit of teaching to mount where i normally mount with vol (slight concrete edge) odins used to a stool in middle of school normally. Again perfect in the pitch black icy school. Had a wonder round and was chuffed with him.

This morning decided to make most of quiet roads and take boys each for a good hack. Vol was his normal hyper self but good boy none the less. Passed couple of mares and expected everyone to get frisky but were all good

Then Mr Odins turn. He seem pleased to be getting tacked up and was eager to leave the yard, no hesitations really relaxed ride compared to vol. Gem at the yard mounting block yet a bloody big height difference to vol haha!.

Vol on the other hand had a major seperation fit (odin never bats an eyelid when left at home but vol is not for being left but accepts him going to the school just not further - vol will go anywhere on his own solo hacking and will stay at home if you are with him but completely alone is a no no as yet - gotta work on this) Could hear him broncing round his stable and heard him connect with the wall so sent my OH back to check on the dweeb and to stay with him, but once checked he was ok we left him and he settled except for a few neighs as he could hear odin on the road but all worked out good.

Odin was striding out, no lameness at all so was really happy as hes back in normal shoes from his heart bars. His laid back nature is to die for, no spooks, no nothing but a calm relaxed hack. This time the mares went mental (odin the stud muffin lol) charging up and down, what did he do........ plod on bless lol
Really falling for the big lad!

Thanks guys :)

Skippy - being on your own has a calming effect of its own i have to say:)

Lucyad - I wasn't looking forward to having the two by myself if im honest but think that was a worry before i actually did it so to say. In reality the only added work load is an extra stable to muck out, i was previously turning in and out the two of them, feed, rug etc so no difference there. :) which is good

Found with Odin being worked now he keeps his stable nicer for me :D thank the lord he can be a messy boy. But finding voltan a bigger baby then i would like! he really does sulk having to share me :o Tantrums R Us at the moment.

Soot - i hope my new found passion doesn't stop him getting an aunty lol quite tempted to hide him away for myself except for odd pleasure rides for peeople as hes such a babe.

He does have an Uncle though (should be daddy if he fully wanted him lol). My OH is a god send on days and comes up on occassions to help out - hes a dab hand now with doing water buckets and feeds to my shock! His only other job is to lead odin in and out to the field and good god does odin prove what a novices horse he can be!
Just doddles along next to my OH isn't boslhy or rude and literally just hangs at the end of the lead rope for him. I have no stress leaving them together. Its rather sweet to watch tweedle de and tweedle dum.
Ridden wise though not a chance my OH would entertain the idea lol no matter how good odin is :D But on a daily basis i notice he starts doing extra things without asking - head collars and rugs etc. So amusing to watch:D

You might be surprised Nookster. My totally non horsey hubby can now be left in full charge of my gang and can do full turning in and out and mucking out, feeding, the works! (Not quite to my standard but I learned early not to complain;)). Its amazing what they start doing once they start feeling "needed"! G would even sit on Skippy and walk with me while Arnie was being started - although that scared the crap out of me - the only one in control was Skippy! Obviously, since I lost Skippy, he cant ride cos Arnie's too small but I might have to steal Lucyads Oscar for him one day.

further training is all you require;)

Fantastic pics :D

He is soooo handsome!!!!

You are so lucky to have such gorgeous and well behaved boys :D
