why do you use a treeless saddle? (calling all treeless saddle users)

I have a 2 year old so not backed yet etc., obviously. But I have
bought a Barefoot Cheyenne from E BAY for next year, hopefully:)

Not only do I like the 'look' of the treeless my girl is a Welsh X Traditional Cob
and rather 'wide' already, with the treeless, you can change the gullets, padding etc., and hopefully it will fit as she changes shape.

Not ruling out going for a treed saddle along the line but for what I am planning on doing, hacking, maybe pleasure/endurance type rides I think
a treeless will suit my Horse............and ME;)

I use a treeless saddle as anything treed or part treed propels up my horses neck! My horse also had serious behavioural problems with his treed saddle (fitted by a Master Saddler), which were solved immediately with treeless.

We have an Energist Solution saddle - fantastic!:D

I recognise that photo *waves from EE*...I LOVE this neddy :D:D

I have this saddle (solution) too :D it's the comfiest thing I ever had the pleasure of putting my bum in!!

we use a treeless, because no tree'd saddle will fit my curvy horse.. no kidding, every single saddle we tried on was either to high off his withers or bridged on his back. Had a saddle made, it was no good, bit the bullet and shelled out another few hundred for the Freestyle Solution, have never looked back. And Seamus loves it!!

omg didnt think this thread was still going..:D

still havent got a treeless still dont have enough money:( will get one sooner or later...... i hope:p

i love your horse ...stunning.

This is the reason why i love my treeless saddle.

I have been through so many saddles for my 13.2hh new forest mare and have spent a lot of money getting various different master saddlers out. I then decided to get a made to measure saddle for her as i thought this was the best option. Even though her saddle is made to measure and does fit her well, i noticed that she started to get a sore back and started to bite me when i went to girth her up. (she never bites) So obviously this was a sign that she was in some sort of discomfort.

So i went on a hunt. I had already tried the Freeform Treeless saddle and that didn't work for me as it slipped around, my mare has no shoulders or withers. So i wasn't convinced i'd find another treeless that would fit her well. Then i test drove a Torsion Treeless saddle. This saddle is so comfortable, her back was no longer sore at all! The equitex pad that you have to use with it, is amazing. It doesn't slip forwards or around. It only slips when you try to mount from the ground, which i don't do. Although if i need to when i'm out on a ride, then i have a piece of baler twine that i put through the other stirrup and hold on to it on my side and the saddle doesn't slip. I wish i'd found this saddle sooner!! Damit! I would've saved a lot of money.

Anyway, she is so happy and comfortable and that's what matters to me. I also ride her in a Dr Cooks bitless bridle. She came to me in a dutch gag and now i have the most responsive pony ever....she's amazin!

The only thing, is that i can't jump very well in my torsion and i don't have the money to buy a torsion deluxe (the one that you can jump in). If anyone knows of any second hand deluxe torsion saddles can you let me know. Or if you know of any other treeless that is good for jumping.

I think i've blabbed on for long enough! Thanks! :)

i really want a teeless.. its just i have no money the only time i think i can afford it is after new year just had my b-day n xmas near that time... so should have a nice lump sum of money for one... were do you go about finding a treeless saddle fitter?

ditto this. i have put my first £100 away this month towards my treeless (that i havent decided on yet ) yey! but i have also been wondering where on earth you have a treeless fitter from - ive never heard of anyone actually having one, even though people always recommend having one!!!!!! ;):D

same iv got my first £100 doubt this will get me far.. new year is such a long way away..:o this is my main question as to were the saddler comes from a few people have sed to buy them and fit them yourself .. id rather not do that to be honest im not expert:D

im not sure on what one but iv seen a few i like.. Decisions,Decisions ;):p

You lost me in that too heehee it's hard to decide which one.. It's the whole comfort , what fits the horse or what u think looks nice!! It's a pain! This is why I wanted somone to fit it. So I no it fits 100% it's always the way that you pick one and you can't have it!! Typical

I also looked up western.. Expensive (££££) they look comfy to. But again there not used much over here so finding somone who sells them.. Or worse fits them is a rare sight. We need more choices ... ( well maybe not if you can't pick) :p Iv seen one person in a western and only one person with a treeless.. You can tell there popular;) would love a treeless

It was nice to see the difference they make not sure who it was but somone posted a picy of there horse from having a treed saddle and a treeless and the difference is amazing! With amey having odd shoulders I'm hoping it will have the same affect. ( the pic is on this thread)

Just a question - would a treeless saddle be suitable for a TB with high withers and little back muscle? Struggle to build up any muscle and looking at other saddle options - currently in a stubben with foam pad and sheepskin pad to lift up at the back as he's quite sensitive and without much muscle it slopes back and down too much, also he has stringhalt on near hind so gait affected by that - welcome any ideas?

Thanks

mainly becuase most of the horses go beter in them. also we have lots horses coming in and outso we use the treelesses to ride them in as they genrally fit evrything.
