Ziggy LOVES the shedding blade and will stand for hours turning this way and that to get a proper service, even on his face.

My friend alsoJane uses a block on her cob and it gives him a shine, which the blade doesn't of course, though as a grey Z doesn't shine that much anyway.

I am ashamed to say I wouldn't know a bot egg if I saw it so don't know how to remove them. But I wouldn't be without my blade - but have had a block on the shopping list for a while now!

Have to say I am a massive convert to shedding blade I love love my one for my boy also he could stand for hours with using it all over legs and all.
I too would not know a bott fly egg if I saw one and yacht used a block either.

I actually noticed my spelling mistake after i had posted and was to lazy to alter it... i did think tht you might not notice, how silly was i..:bounce:

wht is a Furminator?? off to investigate lol

Shedding blade, all the horses love it, I dont have a grooming block and have never noticed bot fly eggs but do spray flyspray twice a day so not sure if that helps or Im blind ?

I brought a furminator last week for my dog, its amazing how much hair it gets off in a matter of minutes!

Also great for de-hairing the insides of rugs

I'll have to take it up the yard and try it on pony.

I Love my shedding blade, its so theraputic getting all that loose hair off and plus ponio loves it.

As for the grooming block, what do they look like? I think i might have one but not sure....

Oh my daizz, they look rather rude in the packet.
just had a peek on ebay to see wht they were

I agree! I did giggle!!

I may have to invest once I am employed (my list of things to buy once employed!) Although I am in desperate need of a shedding blade!

Another vote for the Furminator!! I broke mine though with over enthusiastic grooming :giggle: and had to glue the handle back on - but it's brilliant.. And I love the way it doesn't fly hairs everywhere so I don't end up as grey as May!!

The cat also has a furminator and she loves it!

I recommend buying them off ebay as they were the cheapest place I found last year.

I use shedding blade on Acorn as soon as the first loose hairs start, best investment I ever made in grooming kit, 15 minutes every morning at full moult for about a week really helps- do use the block but only for removing any loose hair etc if showing.

We have sheding blades for the other two as well, really helped sort Tess's coat out ( Lice love it!) a week of that and repel sorted the blighters out.
she gets it every morning until all the coat is removed, almost there down to a tiny bit of belly fluff.

I have a furminator and don't really like it too be honest.
I also have a shedding blade which works really well (better then the furminator) on Piccolo especially and the block i have is excellent....especially on Harvey who has a shorter coat then Piccolo.

I think it also depends what sort of coat they have. Harvey has a very fine, soft coat...more like that of a TB or Arab then a native and even his winter coat isn't long or thick (although he does have a feathers)

Piccolo on the other hand has a rather odd coat. She has a true summer coat which is fine. She also has a mid season coat that she wears in autumn and spring which is thicker and more dense then her true summer coat and then she has her winter woolies where she is incredibly wooly (talking coat of many inches long and deep!) So definitely very different.

Currently Harvey has moulted almost into his summer coat already while Piccolo is sporting her mid season style.

Vote for the Furminator. I've got one that I bought for the dogs which is now with the horse stuff - they work really well and the YO has been using it to great effect on her fell type (on season:devil:mare) and is thrilled (I'm not so thrilled with the in season bit as B is being a prat over her - fine out riding but a pain to get anywhere near in the field :help:).
