Did 30 minutes in the school last night. It was dark and cold so we did a fair bit of trot and canter work to warm up and then called it a day.

Totals to 6th Jan
HSIH (hours schooled in hand) - 30 mins
HSR (hours schooling ridden) - 2 hours 45 mins
HHIH (hours hacked in hand) - 0
HHR (hours hacked ridden) - 1 hour 5 mins

Is it too late to join in with this? And am I right in thinking that it isn't just hacking but all riding (ie schooling too)?
If so I have got off to a fairly good start for the year this week. Two schooling sessions - one 30 minutes and one 20 minutes walk and trot. and one 1 hr 45 minute hack - in the dark and mud and wet so mainly walk but with a little bit of trot. That makes my total for the year so far 2 hours 35 minutes (please tell me if I'm doing this wrong...)

Okay so I chickened out of taking ale for a proper hack today as the weather was terrible and that makes me nervous :( I rode in the school and had a canter, then took him for a very short hack. But we did accomplish one thing. Walking through this and then back through it again. Something like this is very scary to me as I just think ale will spin. But he was really good. I know its not much but we did something :D

Ridden: 2 hours (schooling)
Hacking: 4 miles
Farrier out Sat so hopefully a few more hacking miles soon. :)

Ridden 2 hours 40 mins
Hacking 4 miles

I am counting ridden as anything we do at the yard and hacking separate is that how it works please? Or should I be just adding up the total amount as in hacking ridden time not miles?

Ale well done :-) it doesn't matter what it means to anyone else hun, if it's an achievement for you then it's worth congratulations.
Awwww bless him, Belle has to investigate any puddle, no matter how small/big, she loves nothing more than admiring herself in the lovely clear ones and splashing about in the big ones, we had a ford we used to have to hack through which she loved to 'play' in but we don't here at this yard and I do miss it.
