2019 Hacking/Riding Thread

Well, quite pleased, as I've managed 4 hacks since I got back. Pesky cows and donkeys aside, we've slipped back nicely into our hacking groove. Asked for canter on the long track yesterday, and got 2 strides :( - better than none I suppose! Tight on time today, but lovely lovely ride. Trotted pretty much the whole ride, and was enjoying it too much to kill the mood by asking for canter. I feel we're really getting a good bond now - he was a bit mardy for a day or so when I got back, but almost seemed to say "Oh yes, I remember, I'm not allowed to do that. Ok, got it!" Missed him loads, and loving being back in the saddle.

Just got in from an hour hack down the lane to the riverbank was uneventful except melody bit Eva in the bum when we stopped lol I am loving hacking out it’s one of my dreams to get out into the country side. Lost a whole two packs of butter in weight so far this week....it dropping of me being out and about.

I got my photo from the fun run. With a lorry mending bill to pay I really need to save money, but I really wanted it!

@Native Lover Note the poo in in his tail!! :( :(

This was Harvey towing me into the jump

Weather is moderating somewhat yea...
I have been enjoying the legging up walks more that its not so hot in the morning and
enjoying play more and the little cavaletti pen since it is in full sun.
I do have to ride in the next couple days to get my patterns videoed so I can submit them.
Yesterday was actually almost chilly ALL DAY. It was only very low 60,s F

But WOO HOO we had a small *****FROST**** last nite yippee YIPPEE.

Its is very welcome on the heels of ANOTHER person on the news in Ma with
EEE and 2 more here in RI.
No more horses etc have been infected so far but the State Vet did put an alert out
to ALL animal owners even though its mainly just a horse/ human thing.
One goat did get it in Ma though.
Hopefully this small frost has interrupted the cycle a bit since we are going
into 4 more really hot days mid 80's F from Friday to Monday.

I hope that is the last gasp of summer since fall starts Monday.

Im VERY VERY EXCITED to see this frost this am.

Its one thing to lead him over but feels so good to have him go over when
your not close:)
He felt good playing a little full of himself but it was lots of fun.
We also played with ont of the poles obsacles and the ball having him hit it along
and play touch it.99921

He's not supposed to be out WHERE IS HE???
Oh he is out back here between the barns behing the cement pad.
LOl yup there he was...
Its not like he will really go anyplace but I never let him wander loose without my.being around outside and i always have his halter on and a line.
LOL not being a horsey person it never clicked to him that he does not have a halter on and IM NOT OUT THERE ....

I managed a short ride on the large ginger one today. He produced a massive spook - poor lad, I know what it was (I think) but it felt weird and I stayed on, though wrenched my inner thigh:rolleyes:I am not as riding fit as I used to be!!! But he settled right back down and we ended on a good note. I'm starting to enjoy him again. Though weather plays a huge part and it's been a great two days up here.

Well done, staying on! Spooking was Ramseys fortè, ponies move SO bloody fast! Great to end on a good note.:D

He's such a good boy most of the time, he doesn't take advantage really, STorm however, would spook and then turn it into an excuse to do wall of death for a few laps.........................He just carries on and gets back to work. Such a nice lad. And yes ponies are wick and fast aren't they? Storm was just like that when ridden.

Ugh went to do video the patterns yesterday what a disaster. :(

It was hot I was full of bug spray cause it was getting later in the day.
Ugh It was sweating into my eyes and generally not fun.

Sonny did not want to sidepass or back nicely i had been playing with the turtle dry
the wood chips I had to cushon the bottom were floating and he did not want to step in it I made a tarp one that was fine.
He did not want to cooperate for the clothes line gate. The teeter totter bridge was good... finally something... and the carry water bucket was ok.

I need to ride more I had not ridden since last video and NO SONNY YOUR NOT
RETIRED...

I gave up on trying for the videos yesterday had e myhusband take a few photos
then did a bit more play after the clothes line got better.
I did get a foot in the turtle backing was muc better but sidepass still was horrid.
I have a few more days to video and today will be even worse heat and humidity wise.
I will just try for a little riding tonite.

The only kind of funny thing over all was when I went out to fill the turtle then figured out on the ground sonny was not going to cooperate
and i had to make the tarp water. The wild turkeys were just a few feet away in one of the big round pens
paying no attention to me dragging the turtle playing with hoses
then flapping tarp to set up that water obstacle. LOL they are pretty comfortable around here lol.
Hunting season for them starts in a couple of weeks I hope they continue to

I will keep working with it.
Of everything my favorite is the bridge.
