Frances, did you know that walking down a steep path on a cliffside, the horse (or mule) needs to walk right at the edge so its outside eye can watch for lurking predators. I absolutely hate it. like you said. But I learned that in the States.
And in Colorado Rocky Mountains some of the trail ride paths are so steep that they have steps in them too. Usually at the hairpin bends.
