2022 Hacking and Riding

We were told that more trees were lost here than in the last 20 years.

I had aranged to do ground work and OH did not walk far but stayed near the yard. Ella's respose to ground work, i.e. being led on a 10 ft rope (no whip) and steered between poles was slighty bemused. I gathered it was not something she had been asked to do before but she soon got the hang.
I plan to get back in the saddle next week and ride her in the school.

Aaahhhh that’s better. A mixture of things means I haven’t ridden since a week past Sunday at the show. So had a lovely hack today. He did terrify me at one point by not being bouncy and something was wrong. I stopped so I could check legs and he had the biggest pee! He finished then carried on bouncing 😂. Timing was perfect as we got back 5 mins before the rain.

Hurray - gorgeous morning and managed to ride! Lovely OH offered to look after the boys, so I was free. Hogan was a little tetchy - I haven't ridden for 10 days, and he tends to be a bit "hangry" this time of year. He was pretty good, all things considered. Quite forward so some nice trots. Lovely to be out again!Screenshot_20220225-103805_Gallery.jpg

I love having them, and feel very lucky to have the best bond with them, but I keep forgetting I'm not 35 anymore, and then wonder why I'm so tired!

Best fun EVER - said Robin.

I have never ridden him in this field as it is usually full of sheep. The gate was open and no sheep so it would have been a waste not to. It is on a bit of a hill. He was delighted!! He also pulled like a train. I quit while I was ahead and still on board 😂.

Had a stressful day yesterday, and slept badly, so didn't think I'd ride today. I'm very glad I did! It's a glorious sunny day, but blustery, and I expected Hogan to be a bit of a pain, but he was great. There are trees down everywhere (including our favourite track :(), and the ponies were around, but still managed a really nice, calm hack. At one point two pigeons flapped out of the bushes, literally at his feet and he didn't bat an eyelid. Thank you, good boy, I've relaxed a bit!

It's lovely when our horses can work their magic for us isn't it. So glad you had a nice ride. Not sleeping is horrible.

Just had a lovely walk out in hand with Billy. Couldnt be bothered Friday as id had a busy morning and yesterday i didnt have time as we were too busy gutting a house. Hes been all over the place. Mentally fed up with the wind, headshaking and kicking his heals up getting bored in the field. So expected a knightmare. I decided to let the two of them onto a fresh patch of grass for 1/2 hour before getting them in. Seemed to do the trick, Billy led in lovely, no shenanigans. Chunkys rider decided she didnt want to do a long ride so i decided to brave it with Billy and take him in hand and head down the main road and round the housing estate, and back up the bridleway through the woods to home. The only bit i was really worried about was heading down the main road. Billy was as good as gold. Fortunately traffic was sensible and slowing so he coped well. Im very pleased as he has not been out down there since october. Hoping it wasnt too much for his leg as its 2 miles. He got back and wanted to rub against anything he could. Hes really starting to moult an although he didnt get sweaty. He was on the point of being irritated to rub.

Disn't he

Didn't he do well! Hogan's moulting too.

Robin not moulting yet. Today we went in the newly opened field and cantered up the hill a few times. I could have done without the trying to channel his inner racehorse numerous times but it was actually lovely.

New posts were not coming up.
It seems like forever since ive played.

The weather has not cooperated at all.

Ugh a 22 inch blizzard then more snow ice an over 2 weeks bug we both had didnt help.

I was just happy to have lots of stockpiled hay.

We can't seem to break the crappy pattern

Hopefully a pattern change next week.

Low teens f or lower for temps at night and lingering snow are REALLY
getting to me

Thanks...
Im very sick of THE WHITE....

There is nothing pretty about it.

We have gotten a lot of wind too.

It seems much more windy anymore.
I'm just glad this village does a great job with trees near wires etc..
They heve there own little elect company.
BUT THEY DON'T PRODUCE POWER.

It comes from the major feeder lines so if one of them has a problem we can still loose power.

Some towns constantly loose power
Toni that boards across the street lives in the next town over..where we have the
33 acres.
Ugh power goes out there A LOT
I'm very happy to live HERE.

I'm really looking forward to getting back to playing.

I had a blast this weekend :)
Friday was a solo hack - Harvey is still on a yellow card after bolting with me a few weeks back. He has to have his curb chain tight which he isn't keen on. He was good though and we even had a little canter along the bridleway which we rarely do as it is normally either too hard or too muddy. He also stepped over a fallen tree for me which was a bit awkward.

On Saturday we boxed over to ride with S who is our weekday groom. She hasn't been at that yard very long so I took her on a new ride which I had done once before. As it turned out we both went somewhere new as I got lost and we ended up riding down the busy main road with about 50 cars behind us - oops. The ponies were very good though and the rest of the ride was fun.

One of the other liveries L has a small equestrian clothing business so on Sunday we had a photoshoot for her website. Two of the girls posed for us (I was the photographer) and I ended up with about 400 images. We all had such fun! I will post some images here when I have permission.
In the afternoon I took the yard veteran out for some exercise and then we set up a grid in the school and Harvey and I had a play

My grey girlfriend wanted my lunch
