2023 Hacking and Riding

Mud is my winter colour, fairly presentable is my summer.

Oh, I'm definitely that matchy matchy. If I could afford it, I'd have different matchy matchy for the 12 months of the year. I used to do it with Ramsey's brushing boots and numnahs - had red, navy, green and black. Its a weakness of mine
Fab! Not only got out today, but I was on board! It was windy, wet underfoot, and grey, but I loved every minute. Hogan did too - I intended to make it very short, but he didn't want to turn for home, so we didn't. He felt completely sound, and we even had a couple of very willing little trots. I didn't realise how much i was missing it, until today. 
Too windy to ride so took her out inhand. We can both experience the weather in equal measures since I am the same height.
It's funny really thinking about us being the same height, had she made the 15.2hh she would ruin my views
Anyway it was a lovely walk, possibly helped by the fact I only needed to step through the dirty water in and out of the gate. It barely went over my toe.
Now her on they other hand insisted on side stepping the water and sinking into the mud. But, that's fine, I can deal with that. Gotta love her
I will pay dearly for the hat photo. I really think it should have been a black one.
The hoof is the best it's looked, so hoping she continues to repair. The Cavallos are doing a great job.

Got out today, not too bad weather wise. All going well, until we met a very noisy tractor, who kindly quietened down as we passed. It wound Hogan up a bit though, but it only manifested itself in a VERY forward trot. However, on the way back, the tractor had his back to us, and was busy cutting the gorse - noisier than ever, and he didn't see us. I got off, as Hogan was winding himself up a treat. Found a big stone to get back on at a safe distance and got home in one piece.
Very lucky today. It was actually almost spring like first thing, and we had a lovely hack. Apart, that is, from a lady with a lurcher type dog that raced around Hogan, darting at his heels. She never said a word, and Hogan was a rock - never flinched. In the end I tried to whack it with my long whip, and she finally grabbed it and put it on a lead. Apparently, the inclosure car park is closed for 3 weeks, as they're cutting down trees, and working round the pylons - I think I can still go in my gate and keep to the other end - hope so, or I'm stuffed for 3 weeks!
How dangerous of her! Hopefully you can have a peaceful 3 weeks if no one else can park there!
Gorgeous morning, well, dry and calm - that'll do me! We had a lovely ride, but not without incident. As we rode down the track to the forest, my stirrup caught on a skinny fallen tree. Couldn't get free, so it crackled and snapped behind us and attacked Hogan. He panicked (unsurprisingly), I lost both stirrups, and he cantered(!) for about 20 feet, by which time the tree had let go. I took a pic of it, now across the track, rather than beside it. I have to say, Hogan was amazing - he calmed immediately, and didn't let it affect the rest of our ride. Best wee chap.
