2025 Hacking and Inhand Thread

We had a little spin around the village yesterday morning with Sonne. It was completely uneventful for Sid but not for Sonne, who always marches in front like a trooper but saw her first shop, her first duck pond, her first telephone box, etc. The phone box was scary, but she has the most amazing temperament, calm and willing. It was very relaxing!
She usually pops one in somewhere. I think she's just pleased that she's finally allowed to canter if she wants to.
I have been super slow with her fitness due to the time off and my personal circumstances.
I will add more whoopies I suspect.
I like that photo she seems to be carrying herself nicely there.
I have a nice grass area to use so I will be using the whole area and lunging oblongs again

Another quiet weekend for me. I was going for a longer hack on Saturday but then our old groom and hacking buddy dropped in for a rare catchup!

It's that time on the calender again. She gets her hooves done and sees whoever is about.

glad not just me. She has always been happier with me moving a bit as well, it's post of my work out as well. She settles it only winds her up if we haven't done it for months.
Lovely pootling about times here, I gave it a miss the other day so took photos of the ginger one and mr trews. I did have a lovely plod today though, however I think the horse flies are making an early appearance up here. I'm almost certain there was one hovering around Zi's doorway at lunch time. Hmm. They don't usually come until later for us.

Took her out for a three mile walk with a friend. It was nice to do a different route actually, I don't normally touch it this time of year, but we've got used to boat trailers and jetskis now.
She did stop to have a good nosey at the speed boat that went out past us. A car without wheels floating on the wet stuff, confusing.

On Tuesday we had an overdue trip out to hack with C. The weather was perfect and we had a nice 3 1/4 hour amble round one of our favourite hacks

Popped out both days over the weekend. I didn't feel like riding, so I didn't.
She's really not bothered either way and the second walk I had a friend with me and I spotted a potential picnic spot

After my 3+ hour hack this week my back was aching, so on the basis that Harvey might be the same we had Thursday off. Friday was a nice trip to our canter bridleway and then just a couple of steady road hacks.
Looks like there won't be much riding this week with 30c forecast!

A very fly riddled pootle about today. We've had two days worth of gales and torrential rain so I tacked up gleefully today thinking and hoping for a lovely potter about. Ugh so many flies! Yet it isn't that hot here. Poor Fuzzy was getting eaten alive and Zi did one of those whopping great thunderous shake downs with Mr Trews on board that surprised him (almost wobbled him off lol).
Needless to say we were glad to get off and get their fly rugs on - they certainly need them today.
