2025 Hacking and Inhand Thread

I rode today. The first time since September. Ellsa napped. Very very bad girl. She scared me by spinning so I let her go home. Then to show her she was unforgiven and had to work for her keep, I took her in the school and bossed her around a little. She seemed un repentant.

Oh dear, un repentant isn't good, but I do know someone else who used to be that way.....Glad you are back on board though.

Been eating midges and flies today, yummy...............seriously, I need to stop talking when out pottering on Fuz! They were really bad here today as its been calm and warm. Well, its all protein.....................................Was lovely to be on board again as the previous few days were so rough with wind and damp.

Got her out today in my shorts. It's not shorts weather, but it might encourage it to rain a little we are all getting a little desperate for some reason to fill up the tanks!
I met a lady on a coloured and my heart sank like the Titanic, but she was fine and carried on. If I get the day wrong with her seasons, she's got a thing about coloureds!!
Her drop f doesn't fit properly, we need more round the nose but less on the cheek. Arab size would fit, but I believe these come in cob or full. I know it's not currently fitted right in the photo, but it doesn't sut under the bit at all.IMG_20250329_133735_MP.jpg

Lovely potter about today, was going to do a bit more in the field, but, we'd been around the school for a wander and I had forgotten that Mr T left his coat, fence knocker, several planks and other accutrements lying around the mid way mark. Fuzzy is laid back and doesn't normally bother but she did do a double take at the headless person with only one leg (Puffa coat on post). 😁 🐴 Anyway, she's shedding and went right down for a roll. Meanwhile, I gave the senior mare a groom................

Going to knit another pony out of that lot.............hahahaha.

Thursday was a nice day so I planned just a nice amble round with a quick canter on the bridleway. I had to detour from the direct route home when I cam across a closed road - Harvey was not amused! I had a longer trip on Friday and then 2 more relaxed rides on Saturday and Sunday.

Looks like we are taking a detour!

I would like to know why it's closed and could we still fit. 😂

Gorgeous day here, no wind and bright sun. Lol Fuzzy must have picked up on my stress though as she was a bit cheeky today. I was going to go around the other field but she had other ideas hahahaha. Its like being a passenger on a tank! She's good though, I can live with all her many quirks, she feels good. And of course I was late riding her (how dare I). Isn't it funny though how they tune in with our emotion? Its the first time I've ridden her and not been relaxed tacking up (one word: Amazon😡) and she picked up on it. But the good news is the field is really drying up nicely. I see spring grass popping through though.............Time for weight watchers.................................

Lovely day here with the sun out, but there's still a nip in the air. Had a nice potter about, Fuzzy was ready for her roll again. Her coat is changing, it's so pretty on her rump with her domino spots coming. Mr Trews took a picture, nothing exciting but posting it anyway.

And you can see the field entrance drying nicely - hurrah - no more mud for a while!

We were out for 2 hours this morning. Sid was having trouble with his say nav: every time we got to a junction and I turned him away from home, he stopped and looked around as if to say, “rerouting…” then carried on like a good boy. He’s working a lot at the moment, at least five days a week, and he doesn’t have quite the energy levels he does when he’s in less work, but he’s very good all the same.

Next Saturday we are guiding a group of friends visiting our area by horsebox and I wanted to check that the tracks which were so mangled by the forestry a few weeks ago had recovered.

Indeed, they have been repaired!

I thought that would be nice for a canter, but Sid said it was too new and he didn’t know what the footing was like so we just trotted.

Then home by our normal little by ways

Lovely day here again, bit nippy, no riding in t shirts just yet! I dared to go downhill first instead of other way around hahahaa, Fuzzy was puzzled and forgot what she was doing so we were both confused but happy;

She does make me laugh, she sees mr trews as a biscuit dispenser and will happily follow him to the end of the earth..................he caused a diversion today lol

I would like to know why it's closed and could we still fit. 😂

I was just thinking if there weren’t any workers I’d have gone through anyway!

I would have double checked if there was a hole. I could pretty much guarantee mine would want to spook at it, or want to look in it. 😂

Sid and I would have gone through to check it out. We can't help ourselves
We are all so alike 🤣 🤣

I would normally have gone to check, but turning Harvey away from home is *very* difficult and also I had seen the workmen at the junction further up the road, although I hadn't expected this bit to be closed

We've been having some great weather - lots of riding in shirtsleeves
On Thursday I drove over and picked up my hacking buddy C and we went to a local livery yard where we can park to hack. We had a really nice 3 hour ride with nice canters (and an unplanned gallop when Harvey decided it was time to go home!)
the other 3 days were some shorter rides on my own. I have heard that our local xc course/off road riding is now open so I think I know where we will go for our next trip out :)

Such a beautiful calm sunny day here again. It is just over a year since Fuz arrived and the weather difference is huge! It was ages before I could ride her last year due to the weather. Anyway another lovely potter about, I tried for the other field but she had other ideas after a while when she realised it wasn't the quickest route to gingernut biccies. Hahahahaa. So about turn and I salvaged it by taking her the other way and into the school. She spooked at Husky cat hiding in the bushes (don't blame her for that) but all in all she was great. If only the weather would stay like this - perfect! 🐴 :D😺😺

Perfect day for a ride. I drove to the yard myself (big thing as OH cant drive or lift or get stressed due to cataract eye op).
And there was no one there at the yard to help me lift the saddle onto the mare, nor to hold her while I mounted. So I put her back in her box with her hay net and drove home. Very sad.
