Alternative to Halti Headcollar?

My dog is 10 months old and pulls like a train. If I walk him on a normal lead, he will pull and strangle himself and drag me along as well. I have tried a normal harness which he also pulls on. Recently I bought a halti headcollar and it has worked wonders. He can not pull on it and I can teach him to walk next to me.

He has been wearing it for around 2 weeks, and now we have found a big problem :( Either the cheek pieces are rubbing his face on either side, or he is allergic to the material, and he is getting sore skin. Obviously he can't continue like that, but it is the only thing I have found to work on him! He is a big dog and very excitable

So I was wondering if anyone knows of any alternative that works in a similar way to the Halti, but which may not rub or is made of a different material? :)

Otherwise, I may have to find some way of padding out the cheek pieces, so any ideas on that would be good too..
xx

I have a padded Halti that doesn't seem to rub (I had the same problem as you with our original one). Can't remember where I got it though, sorry! Was online somewhere :o

We got the Canny collar (google it!)-doesn't rub and doesn't make his eyes pop out of his head! It's kinder and you need even less force to use it. The dog can't pull on it, same as the Halti, just lots nicer. Alternatively, get some sheepskin pieces for the cheeks.

Canny collars are the best to use for pulling dogs, they teach them well and dont rub or anything. I think the website is cannyco.co.uk or something like that.:) I strongly recommend them.

gencon all in one leads are fantastic- I have used every other lead, collar and halti style.
They fit all shape and size faces, so no need to worry about getting the wrong size, and they design means if they pull the front nose part down off their nose, the lead then becomes a slip lead so no way a dog can escape or trag the owner

Thanks everyone, have been looking at the ones recommended, and will be ordering something today! Thanks for the help & recommendations :)
