An abscess question - updated after vet visit

I had great success with a sarcoid cream and feeding daily amount of TurmerAid (boost immunity) and they vanished. Did vet say what type of sarcoids. Silver had occult sarcoids (flat ones) - they have vanished (touch wood).

I can dig out the cream and tell you what it was (a friend very kindly cured her own horse and sent me the leftovers) if you want.

She didn't say what type they were. If its not too much trouble I would be interested to know about the cream, thanks.

this was Silver's. It was fairly flat and vet said it was an occult one.

Yes that does look quite flat. Zi's started off flat (ish) and now has grown somewhat, its about an inch deep. I'm just glad it isn't where it would rub on tack or rugs. But all the same if vet thinks its better dealt with then so be it. I used to think it was younger horses that got them.

Still no abscess appearance. Argh. Poor lass is fed up. I can tell because she's really not herself at all and not wanting to come and go very much. She's eating fine and is fine once she gets in the field but its an effort getting there (the stoney yard does not help so she sticks to the rubber mats). Still tubbing it as well.

Do you have some rubber matting, or even old carpet, you could put over the stones for her? Or even a smaller piece you could tape over her sole just to give some protection from them?

She has a path of large rubber matting all the way down to the field, directly from the stables. However, at night when Zi and her free range - he often diverts her onto the rest of the yard which is stoned up. It just isn't possible to cover it unfortunately. I'd need a lot more mats and its our access into our property that we drive through so I don't think the mats would hold up well being driven over. If only Zi wouldn't chivvy her so much! There's just one more stretch to the field that is off putting for her and I'm having some more rubber mats delivered on my next feed order. But if I'm being honest, its not that big a stretch for her normally, just really at the moment. That's a good idea with taping something over the sole - not sure how long it would stop on but worth a try!

Decent duct tape usually holds it on fairly well, just put it on like it's a poultice (it can go over one). And tell Zi to be a gentleman!

Talk about ups and downs. Last night Fuz had a meltdown in the byre. Never seen her like that in the two years she's been here. We all heard a clanging noise in the distance, Zi soon returned to eating and Storm didn't even look up from he paddock! But Fuz - oh dear. I thought she would settle. Now bear in mind this is a pony with a sore foot, and I know she was running on adrenalin but even so, you wouldn't have known she was even remotely lame! She churned the bed up like a food mixer and when I let her out, she came out sound looking. Of course I knew it might be false, due to being wired.
She sort of settled in the field, Zi kept giving her funny looks as I don't think he understood why she was upset. I monitored her until about 11pm and eventually she settled but she did keep looking up and towards the hill in the distance which I think is where the clanging came from earlier.
This morning she doesn't look sound but she doesn't look anywhere near as lame as she was. So totally puzzled. Still can't see an exit and there's a bit of warmth in that hoof still. Hmm.
Will be tubbing her again this evening when she comes up for a snooze.

Ages ago Raf had an unexplained on off lameness that the vet didnt think was an abscess. After a while he came sound but with no obvious pus discharge or anything. A couple of times I thought he had a tiny damp spot on his coronet band but decided it was wishful thinking.

A couple of farrier visits later the farrier exposed a huge empty abscess hole. It must have tracked up and drained slowly from the coronet.

Fingers crossed Fuzzy is feeling better even if you don't get the pus explosion!

How's she doing now @Trewsers ?
Well this morning she came in looking a good bit better thanks. But she was like that yesterday and then by tea time looked off again. Hmm. There was still a tiny bit of warmth but nothing coming out and I keep feeling around the top of the hoof underneath her feathers. Its a bit of a mystery. And it will be a week tomorrow since the vet came out.

That is interesting - I wonder if Fuz is having something similar. Yes lol a pus explosion, I was ever so glad when Zi's popped a few months back! Darn abscesses.
