Girls don't know. No-one is seeing him except me so no need to worry them unless I have to. Vet says disease is progressing as normal - no sign of bastard strangles. But it's a horrible disease sometimes. Can be very mild but can be horrid, and can be serious. So it's just a waiting game now. Oscar was isolated 12 days ago and no new cases have arisen so rest of yard seems to have got away with it. I have kept Amber, Max and Oscar together because vet said originally that Max was well exposed anyway, so she felt they should stay together, and it has meant I have not had to manage Oscar & Amber and then go onto main yard. I was so paranoid about spreading it myself that I almost felt I should expose Max to risk and keep all mine separate rather than potentially expose any of the other horses. They have been moved well away from main yard - not even parking near the yard but I have my own access and no shared spaces. So in effect they aren't even on the yard but are on land the YO owns. She has over 100 acres so a properly isolated area has been able to be used which is good. The other 2 are fine. I think they must both have just developed a strong immune response against it because they are in a field with a very ill pony! I regret that now, because lockdown will be lifted soon and if I had left Max on the main yard Twin 1 could have had her pony back. If he now gets ill I will also kick myself, because it means he did not get ill from the original exposure but from being with Oscar more recently. Oh well, you just do what you think is right at the time.
