And it was all going so well....Strangles :-(

Amber and Max and symptom free. Oscar is really quite poorly. Beginning to get quite worried about him :'(

So sorry to read this about Oscar. Huge healing vibes on there way to him and calming vibes for you too - very worrying time for sure. :(

Girls don't know. No-one is seeing him except me so no need to worry them unless I have to. Vet says disease is progressing as normal - no sign of bastard strangles. But it's a horrible disease sometimes. Can be very mild but can be horrid, and can be serious. So it's just a waiting game now. Oscar was isolated 12 days ago and no new cases have arisen so rest of yard seems to have got away with it. I have kept Amber, Max and Oscar together because vet said originally that Max was well exposed anyway, so she felt they should stay together, and it has meant I have not had to manage Oscar & Amber and then go onto main yard. I was so paranoid about spreading it myself that I almost felt I should expose Max to risk and keep all mine separate rather than potentially expose any of the other horses. They have been moved well away from main yard - not even parking near the yard but I have my own access and no shared spaces. So in effect they aren't even on the yard but are on land the YO owns. She has over 100 acres so a properly isolated area has been able to be used which is good. The other 2 are fine. I think they must both have just developed a strong immune response against it because they are in a field with a very ill pony! I regret that now, because lockdown will be lifted soon and if I had left Max on the main yard Twin 1 could have had her pony back. If he now gets ill I will also kick myself, because it means he did not get ill from the original exposure but from being with Oscar more recently. Oh well, you just do what you think is right at the time.

I hope Oscar makes a turn around soon.

The whole thing seems a horrible nightmare and awful people making it worse.

I also do not do facebook.
I have heard too many bad things on it - sometimes it can be annoying when you want to
look up a website or something and they ONLY do facebook.

They seem to just assume the whole world does facebook!!!

I have to say that for the most part I tend to agree with you. But for someone like myself who is trying to fundraise for charity on a shoestring, as every single cent counts, facebook is the only way forward. I looked into creating some sort of website and the costs were just ridiculous for someone like myself, all the funds raised would have been used up in the costs of setting up the web site and maintaining it. So no I don't for one minute think all the world does Facebook, and thank God for that! - but for fundraising and reaching a very wide Equestrian audience without any outlay it works very well for my purpose. :)

Cortrasna is it very easy to make a site yourself. I cant give you a complete list of free website providers and their design help but I use Google sites - which I think you will find has plenty of inbuilt guidance for things like clubs and small charities. I am not sure whether or not it accepts sites for fund raising. Google sites nurse you through the process if you wish. One cant upload a full site to Google, only the constituent pages.
My own sites were first made in the days when one typed out ones own HTML and uploaded a complete site. I had a Rough Guide to the internet which included a brief explanation of how to handle links etc. You can find this kind of instruction on the Internet these days.
There are also free places to which one can still upload a complete site. Some are specialised, e.g. for genealogy. To edit a site one can use MS Word (these days) or specialist software which creates specific sites, as for genealogy - and can upload using free software. I use Filezilla.

You've got to tell people where your website is and get the URL out there though. No point having a website if nobody sees it. And the easiest place to promote your website and get some traffic to it is...Facebook.

I hate Facebook but it's an incredibly useful way of reaching out to a big audience so I stick with it!
