I'm looking at horses for adoption as well, and I found this little chap at the Blue Cross sanctuary in Burford, Oxfordshire, only a couple of hours away from me. Get ready to say Aaaaahhh....

He's only 2 weeks old so would not be with me until next Spring, but I have an enormous application process to undergo first! I spoke to the sanctuary today and the horse homing specialist seemed to feel that the absence of youngsters in our field wouldn't be a problem as long as he was homed with a kind gelding and kept away from mares (because he'll be gelded just before he comes).

They want to know all about me, but before making any decisions I would want to know all about him, meet him, and most importantly meet his mum, as he has no recorded breeding.

I'm still going to look at that filly, and possibly also this little chap if he is still available:

Will keep you all posted!

He is adorable .... too cute.

The Blue cross are certainly very particular, I didn't much like the staff at Burford when I was looking, I found them a bit snooty, the people at Rollaston however were completely different, really normal, really helpful, well until Oscar had to go back, that was a whole different kettle of fish.

Oh he is super cute :D I love the colour of the 2nd one, but is it me or does he have super long pasterns? maybe it's just the picture angle or one of those awkward foal stages :)

That dun is going to be a broad beefy chap when he grows up. Look at them legs compared mum, already bigger than mum.

he's very sweet. If you go to a horse auction you would pick up a youngster like him for £50 to save him going on the meat lorry. My friend bought two shetlands at Ashford sales, they had been on a petting farm, having foals as an attraction, the owners sent them there with not even transport to bring them home if they didn't sell, didn't care what happened to them. Ashford sales in Kent often have some very nice horses

That's rotten what their old owners did - how bloody thoughtless.

Thanks for the tip. Alas, Ashford auctioneers, Hobbs Parker, are no longer going to hold horse auction sales. https://www.hobbsparker.co.uk/auctioneers/equestrian-auctions/#gs.go4a1y
