Well, the inevitable finally happened last night!:stomp: I flew through the air with the greatest of ease! (TBH it wasn't really flight, more dull plop.)
Schooling really well at ttime yesterday and feeling extremely impressed with ourselves we worked the long side of the arena in a lively working trot, enlivened by the warm wind. Alas, pride came before a fall, and the same wind gusted suddenly and caused a blue rubber poo-picking bucket in the corner to come to life under Jack's nose. He was upwards, backwards and sideways and I was over and off.
He pranced off to a safe distance from the  bucket and stood until I get myself together and collected him up. No harm done (low speed low impact, soft sand) just a bit of jarring. Clambered aboard and continued, having taken him over to reassure him that the bucket didn't have a life of it's own and he was a good as gold for the next 20 mins.
Point is this is the first time I've come off since I returned to riding 2 1/2 years ago. I knew it was bound to happen and was beginning to wonder where and when my first tumble would come. (How pointless is that?) As it is it was all over v quickly and the really good thing is:
I didn't break into pieces, even though I am 50+
I wasn't frightened to get back on again
It hasn't put me off!
So every cloud has a silver lining. Us oldy novices sometimes get too concerned about falling off. If it's going to happen it will, and may not be as bad as you fear!
Ride safe everyone. Delighted to report I live to ride another day:dance:
