I was reading in this months H&R about 'Spanish Mustangs'. Apparantley they are ' hardy with a gentle nature and tough constitution'. There is a picture of one and the breed looks nice too :)

They are also a rare breed so if you bought one you would be helping to preserve the breed.

Does anyone have one and if so could you give me some feedback on the breed please? :)

LOL not expensive....around £3000!
Beautiful hardy breed, maximum height 14.3 can carry quite a weight due to their shorter vertebrae.

This in an interesting link to read

Have a look at my album, Teton Brave, Prairie Breeze aka Twiggy and Cheyenne Promise.
All three can have their line traced back 100's of years to the Sioux and Cheyennes
Totally different breed to your normal horse, a thinking horse (can be a problem sometimes)
Well worth a read, and yes, there are less than 1000 registered SPANISH mustangs left int he world.

This Picture is Brave's grandfather, residing on Cayeuse Ranch USA, one of the most Famous Spanish Mustangs in this time. Name; Sundowner.

Mainly because the Americans (as a general rule) prefer BIGGER horses and the SM isnt big, but sure can match any horse its put up against, especially in endurance ! :)

Where did you hear that Americans prefer bigger horses? North America is the birthplace of the Quarter Horse and they are a hugely popular breed here; not a big one by a long shot. Most run about 14.2 to 15.2.

mustang owners

there are a few of us mustangers in the uk including 4 stallions standing at stud, I have 2 stallions and 3 mares in devon, with another lady having 1 stallion and 3 mares further up country, plus at least 2 other owners all in the south of england

they are wonderful horses and work really well with natural horsemanship methods. the average height is about 14hh - 15hh and they are great weight carriers.
