Anyone understand why it is important to ride?

I want to do it to make new friends,
Learn the sport, and relieve stress throughout my life, but why do you riders ride horses?!

I'm with LindaAd I just love being around them, the friend side of it for me is incidental, I have made a couple of very good friends through horses but it's not a motivation for me.
