Hi everyone. Last year I purchased an Aussic stock saddle with a pomel. I have aussie saddle pad for it but I really want one with more color (some pink) however they do not make them. I emailed a Aussis saddle maker company and they did say that a rectangle pad would work fine since the leathers on the side of the saddle are meant to touch the side of the horse ( I was worried about rubbing) however they said I needed a pad of 1/4" thickness in order to get the close contact of the saddle : (, let me tell you that is nearly impossible to find.

Does anyone else here have an Aussie saddle that rides with a western type pad?

Thanks
Debbie

Does your Australian Stock saddle (Also called a poley saddle), have a swinging Fender or is it the traditional Stock Saddle??? The Traditional stock saddle doesn't have singing Fenders. The flaps at the sides are long like a Dressage Saddle, and the Stirrups are English, and The stirrup leathers are the same as English, maybe you could post a picture of your saddle.
I'm in Australia, and The Australian saddles, are the most popular (other than at shows then English Saddles are [the most popular], except for Camp Drafting, Barrel Racing, and Tent Pegging.). Western Saddles are becoming more popular. But the Stock saddle (Poley Saddle) is actually known (Worldwide) as the most comfortable saddle fo rough terrains, and for spending hours in the saddle (I mean days, weeks). And also excellent for mustering as well. Actually They were adapted to that because, Drovers use to Drove Cattle From one side of Australia to the other, and they would be in the saddle all day every day for months, so understandably (sp?) they wanted comfortable saddle's, and they would make them. And as you probably know, they ARE comfortable.
